Railroading Merit Badge
October 25, 2014

Scouts should make sure to come out for this great experience. Ride a historic train and complete a merit badge provided the prerequisites listed below are finished before arriving.  Your experience will begin at Thomaston Station. Merit badge requirements will be covered before boarding a restored 1920's vintage passenger coaches. Prepare to see a side of the Naugatuck Valley that you just can't get from your car! Your one hour and 20 minute train ride along the scenic Naugatuck River hugs the river's edge, passing through state forest lands and south to pass by the site of Waterbury's brass mills, where thousands of men and women toiled daily in the "Brass City." Complete your journey with a view from spectacular Thomaston Dam, the only railroad in North America that crosses the face of a dam. Leave time to tour the displays at the depot and explore the charming village of Thomaston.
